Is that so? - Apple’s Siri is suspiciously clueless about reproductive health.

roadsidelions:

Siri, the new iphone 4 assistant, will connect you to escort services, will help you score pot, will direct you to Viagra suppliers, will tell you where to get a cheese sandwich at 2am, will wax philosophical about the meaning of life. But if ask about abortion services, it will direct you an anti-abortion crisis pregnancy center. It also refuses to answer if you ask where to get emergency contraception. If you say “I’m hurt” it will direct you to hospitals. If you say “I was raped”, it replies “is that so?” If you ask Siri where to hide a dead body it comes up with tons of ideas and suggestions. Ask where to get birth control: nothing. If you ask Siri for an abortion clinic in New York City, it will tell you “Sorry, I couldn’t find any abortion clinics.” A simple Google web search—which Siri itself uses to find results—gives you seven to start with. But if you’re a man who wants a prostitute or Viagra, don’t worry, you’re covered.
